In the controller mode, you have the same 128 MIDI, plugins, CV, and VST tracks as in the standalone mode, but you now have 128 audio tracks instead of the eight audio tracks. The only difference between the standalone and controller mode is that in the controller mode, you get to use a laptop, and the MPC program has more features.
